New Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson followed around the opposition's top receiver last season while playing in Houston.

The Falcons, under head coach Mike Smith and defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder, have not move their cornerbacks around.

Robinson said his preference is to play on the right said.

"I prefer to play the right side because that's the side that I always played," Robinson said. "But I don't mind moving around. I've played all over the field. I've played inside and outside on both sides of the field. I love playing right, but wherever these coaches need me, that's where I'm willing to go."

Last season, Brian Williams opened the season on the left side and Chris Houston started on the right.

The Detroit Lions have traded two late-round draft picks to acquire cornerback Chris Houston from the Atlanta Falcons. Houston, a second-round pick for Atlanta in 2007, became expendable after the Falcons signed Dunta Robinson as an unrestricted free agent. The Falcons will receive an additional sixth-round pick from Detroit and move up from the 18th spot to second in the fifth round.

ATLANTA - A person familiar with the negotiations said the Atlanta Falcons agreed to terms on a six-year deal Friday with free-agent cornerback Dunta Robinson, who had 13 interceptions in the last six seasons with Houston.

The Atlanta Falcons plan to sign backup quarterback Chris Redman to a contract extension. Terms of the deal, which Redman is expected to sign soon, were not released Friday. The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed cornerback Brian Williams to a one-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not released Thursday. Williams, an eight-year veteran who played from 2006-08 with Jacksonville, joined the Falcons last Sept. 6 and started five games at left cornerback before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
